Or Oskar Schindler’s factory, yes, Schindler’s List is based on this, and the museum of today is open to the public where you can see what living in Krakow during World War II. Poland’s Next Oldest City Should Be Your Next Vacation Destination

The 2nd largest city in Poland is Krakow, as well as one of the oldest. Sitting on the Vistula River, the Lesser Poland region city dates to the seventh century and until 1596, it was Poland’s official capital. The city is a leader in academic, artistic, cultural, and economics.

What was once a Stone Age settlement, starting off as a hamlet located on Wawell Hill, Krakow is now the country’s second most important city. Even in its beginnings, Krakow was a busy trading center for Central Europe. In 1918, the city saw new cultural venues and universities as the Second Polish Republic emerged.

Visit the Wieliczka Salt Mine

The Wieliczka Salt Mine is Poland’s oldest business venture and is featured on the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List.  The salt found in the mine was formed over thousands of years ago.  Visitors to the mine can choose from several different tours depending on the amount of time they want to spend at the Wieliczka Salt Mine and what they would like to do and see while there.
